Global Partners in Care and Elea Institute Unite to Advance Global Palliative Care
Advancing Access to Hospice and Palliative Care Worldwide
CHICAGO — Global Partners in Care (GPIC) and Elea Institute are expanding their impact through a partnership to enhance access to hospice and palliative care worldwide. This collaboration aims to address pressing challenges in the global palliative care landscape by fostering innovative, sustainable solutions through knowledge exchange, resource sharing and strategic collaboration.
This initiative comes at a critical time as global funding for palliative care continues to decline, while the need for these services grows. Currently, only 14% of the global need for palliative care is being met. By leveraging GPIC’s proven partnership model, which connects hospice and palliative care organizations in the U.S. with counterparts in low- and middle-income countries, and Elea Institute’s position as a driving force in convening national leaders in hospice and palliative care, this project seeks to drive greater impact through shared expertise and innovative programming.
“Elea Institute is committed to advancing high-quality hospice and palliative care across the nation through collaborative partnerships,” said Kent Mathy, chair of Elea Institute’s Board of Directors. “We are proud to now bring the lessons, strategies, and innovations that have been pioneered here at home to a global stage. Together with GPIC, we are creating a blueprint for sustainable, impactful collaboration that will improve care for patients and families everywhere.”
Together with key global stakeholders and grassroots partners, GPIC and Elea Institute will engage a diverse network to co-create a roadmap for collective global action. This collective approach will produce unified action as well as enhance the capabilities of each organization involved. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the urgent need for improved palliative care services globally, strengthen international collaboration to create a more cohesive global movement and reinvigorate stakeholder engagement and shared learning.
“A key focus will be capturing lessons and insights from partners in low-resource settings, reinforcing the bi-directional nature of knowledge sharing, and developing actionable solutions.,” stated John Mastrojohn III, president & CEO of Global Partners in Care. “By partnering with Elea Institute and key stakeholders, we are enthusiastic about using our collective voice and experience to enhance access to care and, most importantly, alleviate suffering for patients and families worldwide.”
This partnership is a call to action for the global palliative care community to come together in support of patients and families everywhere.
