Introducing the Elea Institute: Leading the Future of Hospice and Palliative Care

As the Chairman of Elea Institute, I am proud of our unwavering commitment to enhance hospice and palliative care. This commitment from our organization’s inception has been ensuring that end-of-life care is met with dignity, compassion, and comfort.

Who We Are

The seedlings of Elea Institute began in 2015 with the merging of hospice organizations, and a unified effort to provide palliative and hospice services to the Chicagoland communities. In 2022, JourneyCare’s leadership established Elea Institute after Addus HomeCare acquired the agency’s hospice services. Now, two years later, Elea Institute is at the forefront of efforts to expand access to high-quality hospice and palliative care nationwide.

Our Core Values

Elea’s mission is to support patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers through a multifaceted approach that includes cutting-edge research, comprehensive educational resources, and strategic partnerships. By offering grants and supporting wide-ranging initiatives, we strive to remove barriers to care, ensuring that compassionate and effective end-of-life care is accessible to all who need it. Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to transform the landscape of hospice and palliative care, making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families.

Our guiding principal is empowering patients and caregivers, ensuring they can successfully navigate the healthcare system and manage the complexities of end-of-life care. Supporting advanced care planning and providing essential training and resources to caregivers are essential to these goals.

Elea’s grants allow targeted investments in innovative programs by organizations that share our goals to improve hospice and palliative services for patients across the Chicagoland area and nationwide.

Additionally, we advance research, education, and training by disseminating information on cutting-edge industry practices and offering comprehensive educational resources. These initiatives equip healthcare providers with the latest industry insights and innovative patient-focused practices.

Our research will also guide policymakers’ efforts to reduce barriers to comprehensive, coordinated care for patients at the end of life. Elea’s research findings also provide important insights to lead multi-stakeholder conversations, elevate key issues at the national level, and advocate for solutions that enhance access and affordability. Through these efforts, Elea Institute strives to create a healthcare system that prioritizes compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care for all.

Looking Ahead

As Elea Institute moves forward, our goal remains steadfast. Our previous efforts affirms our dedication in paving the way towards expanding access to high-quality hospice and palliative care through research, education, advocacy, and partnerships.

We invite you to join us on this journey.
