JourneyCare Hospice to Continue Serving the Barrington Community

JourneyCare (an Addus HomeCare Company) signed agreement to renew lease of Barrington Property from Elea Institute.

Barrington, IL—February 1, 2023—As a result of a renewed lease agreement between property owner, Elea Institute, and JourneyCare Hospice (an Addus HomeCare Company), Addus will continue operating the Pepper Family Hospice Care Center located in Barrington, Illinois.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue providing patient-focused and innovative hospice and palliative care to members of the Barrington Community and the greater Chicago metro area,” said Brad Bickham, President and Chief Operating Officer of Addus HomeCare. “We look forward to growing this important relationship.”

Elea Institute, the owner of the Barrington property, is a recently established nonprofit charitable organization created following the sale of JourneyCare, a nonprofit hospice provider that continues to stand at the forefront of hospice and palliative care in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

“We are dedicated to advancing care for people with serious illness,” said Kent Mathy, Chair of Elea Institute. “Continuing this lease agreement with JourneyCare reflects our commitment to honor the mission of our predecessor organizations and continue to be a guiding light for those seeking and providing end-of-life care.”

Bickham added that “Addus is committed to expanding its hospice, palliative care, home health and personal care services throughout the Chicago metro area and particularly in areas that have historically lacked access to many of these critical services. The renewal of our lease for the Pepper Family Hospice Care Center is an important part of the continuation and expansion of our service offerings.”
